Bhavnagar, September 20: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to attend the 'Samudra se Samriddhi' event in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, on Saturday, he emphasized that the development initiatives set to be inaugurated will serve the interests of citizens nationwide, marking a pivotal moment for the maritime industry.
During this prominent gathering at Jawahar Maidan, the Prime Minister will unveil a range of transformative projects across various sectors.
He is expected to inaugurate and lay the groundwork for several development initiatives totaling over Rs 34,200 crore.
In a message shared on X, PM Modi stated, "Today, September 20, is a crucial day for India's maritime sector and our journey towards self-sufficiency. I will participate in the 'Samudra se Samriddhi' programme in Bhavnagar at approximately 10:30 A.M."
He further noted, "Projects worth more than Rs 34,200 crore will be inaugurated or have their foundations laid, benefiting people throughout India. We will also focus on key policies related to the shipping industry."
The event will prominently feature the maritime sector, with PM Modi set to launch projects exceeding Rs 7,870 crore, aimed at enhancing critical infrastructure at major Indian ports.
Among the key highlights is the inauguration of the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal at Indira Dock and the foundation stone laying for a new container terminal at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata.
Additional maritime advancements include a new cargo berth and container handling facilities at Paradip Port in Odisha, the Tuna Tekra Multi-Cargo Terminal in Gujarat, and modernization efforts at Kamarajar Port in Ennore, Chennai Port, Car Nicobar Island, Deendayal Port in Kandla, along with inland waterway enhancements in Patna and Varanasi.
In Gujarat alone, the Prime Minister will unveil a significant portfolio of projects valued at Rs 26,354 crore, targeting sectors such as renewable energy, port infrastructure, roadways, healthcare, and urban transport.
Notable initiatives in Gujarat include the HPLNG Regasification Terminal at Chhara Port, the Acrylics and Oxo Alcohol Project at the Gujarat IOCL Refinery, the 600 MW Green Shoe Initiative, and the 475 MW PM-KUSUM solar feeder for farmers.
The inauguration will also cover the Badeli 45 MW Solar PV Project and the complete solarization of Dhordo village.
In the healthcare and urban infrastructure domains, foundation stones will be laid for expansions at Sir T. General Hospital in Bhavnagar and Guru Govind Singh Government Hospital in Jamnagar.
Additionally, PM Modi will initiate the four-laning of 70 kilometers of national highways, enhancing connectivity and trade routes within the state.
Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will be signed between government entities and private sector players, strengthening public-private partnerships and fostering regional growth.
The Prime Minister will also conduct an aerial survey of the Dholera Special Investment Region, envisioned as a greenfield industrial city focused on sustainable industrialization, smart infrastructure, and attracting global investments.
